About Me

“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger

Dream big. Work Hard.

Hey! I’m Mark, an ambitious fifth year medical student passionate about public health, learning and start-ups.

Jesus Christ, Elon Musk and Eminem are my biggest role models, an unlikely combination that inspires in me Love, Ambition and Hard work.

My mission is to maximise my positive impact on the world, whether it’s creating healthier lives, enabling youth to reach their potential or bringing passion and enthusiasm to the community. You can find more about what I do on my LinkedIn.

A year ago while studying the heart in med school (I wanted to become a Cardiologist), I was gutted to realise that I was essentially training for years to treat a disease that could be prevented by running more and eating less KFC. I was sorely disappointed. And I promised myself to focus my efforts on preventing disease rather than just treating symptoms. To focus on populations rather than individuals.

I also have a deep hunger for continuous learning in everything, I believe that this learning mindset is the key to success both in formal education and far beyond. It is this, combined with the huge long-term impact that education delivers to people, which drives my passion for learning today.

Finally, I’m a proud Coptic Orthodox Christian and I aim to further His message with purpose – that God is love. I won’t aggressively preach to you since I believe actions speak louder than words, and while I’m still weak, I aim to uphold my Christianity in all my behaviour.
